Famous LAST MEALS(#1): Andrew Chan (and group)

If you were given the choice of a last meal, what would it be?

Various countries have varying traditions in regards to a condemned prisoner's last meal. In many countries, the prisoner is allowed, within reason, to select what their last meal will be...

Andrew Chan (12 January 1984 – 29 April 2015) was an Australian drug smuggler who was convicted and executed in Indonesia for drug trafficking as a member of the Bali Nine - the name given to a group of nine Australians arrested 17 April 2005, and convicted for smuggling 8.3 kg (18 lb) of heroin valued at around A$4 million (US$3.1 million) from Indonesia to Australia.

Myuran Sukumaran
According to court testimonies of convicted drug mules, Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were the co-ringleaders of the heroin smuggling operation from Indonesia to Australia. After a criminal trial on 14 February 2006, Chan was sentenced to execution by firing squad by the Denpasar District Court.

Chan and the other prisoners refused to be blindfolded. They sang "Amazing Grace" before being shot by a 12-member firing squad.
Executed along with the two Australians, were four Nigerian men, a Filipino woman and one man each from Brazil and Indonesia.

There are no provisions for a final meal for execution victims in Indonesia but they were allowed to order KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN - a favourite for Indonesians.
